I have the DC1 model of diesel heater and for the last year that I have owned the boat has worked fine. However, recently it fires up and starts running, sometimes for a few mins sometimes for a few hours but it suddenly goes out and produces a cloud of smoke before going through the start up process again. It's never done this before. I've tried it with the exhaust disconnected thinking that it may be blocked but it still does it.

Has anyone had this sort of thing happen to them and what did it turn out to be???

Yep. turned out to be the control box whatsit thingy, costs a mint but aint got the bill............ yet.
