Hello,
Are there any Eberspacher wiring Techy's out there?
Got a bit of a problem with a D3 We have taken it out of the boat and brought it home minus the on/off switch and the thermostat so we are left with a plug with 6 pins. We looked at the wiring diagram and thought that if we bridged terminals 5 and 6 we might get it to try to fire but we just get a click from the control box !! Wonder if we bridged it right to over ride the missing switch/stat ??? It might be locked out as it failed to fire up a few times on board. At home here I have an eber timer /diagnostic and wondered if I could connect it up to the unit to get the fault code/reset it ? Does anyone know if it is possible to wire it up.

Plug from the unit is 1 Brown (think that's earth) 2 black 3black/green+violet
4 red 5 yellow 6 Black/black+white

Plug from The diagnostic 6 wires Yellow, red, grey, Brown, Brown/white,grey/red

Unit end there is an extra one a brown guess that's the neg for the bulb ?

Any help would be fantastic thanks. Best regards Colin.

I haven't looked at the wiring diagram to see if the control swtch can be eliminated, although I suspect this will upset the ECU. A recent addition to the Eberspacer section on the LeTonkinoise website is a schematic for making a small circuit to replace the control switch - worth doing even if only to do maintenance on the unit at home.

Navigating around the website isn't all it could be, but there is loads of information on it based on their own experience and drawn from Eberspacher sources. There are helpful comments on fault finding and diagnostics and links to downloadable manuals, too.

Roy Murkin deserves a medal for collating and publishing so much useful information!

Skipper_stu wrote an article in PBO a couple of years ago and included a tip for by-passing the controls. I think it was red to yellow but perhaps better to send him a PM to be sure.

The yellow wire is usually the 'trigger' wire, connecting these should fire up the eber.
Slate/red carries the heat setting from your rheostat/modulator and brown/white the 'earth' side of that.
grey is used when an external thermostat is employed.
Diagnostic in heaters since the D1LC is usually blue/white.
Have you tried www.espar.com for a manual ?
