Hi All,

The Eberspacher that came with my boat has never worked unfortunately. All I have been able to do is get the blowers working. I have taken it apart and can not find cause of it not working. I am sure it is just something simple, but as with everything, it isn't simple for me. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of info on these units as they are quite old and most people have upgraded.

Anyway, as I am looking to replace it, I am hoping that the exhaust skin fitting can be re-used and possibly even the ducting that I already have going through the boat. In which case would I need a unit as large as the D4? or would the D2 suffice for a 33ft boat? Are the ID's of the exhausts the same throughout the range?

Thanks

S

I believe the D2 and D4 are both 24mm diameter exhausts, which should be the same as your D1L. However, your D1L was probably fitted with 50mm ducting, and the D2/D4 need bigger ducting. The D2 might just about be OK for your boat, but the D4 would heat it up quicker and would use less battery power.

Great, thanks for the info. Changing the ducting sounds like a bit of a pain, but what isn't :-)

How come the D4 uses less power? Because it is able to put out more heat, therefore it wouldn't be running as long?

Cheers

just been having a look through the web and came across these. It looks like Webasto are made in China, and it looks like the factory are selling them to people in China who are in turn selling them through here, for the price, I am half tempted :-) what could possibly go wrong?

Lots to go wrong, import duty and VAT aside, consider the postage costs and hassle if there's a warranty claim or it's just rubbish and you want your money back. Look for a supplier with a European warranty and service backup.

Webasto are not made in China, they are made in Germany. Those are a copy of an old Webo model, there are similar ones available from a respected UK source with good back up, warranty and service.
