Eberspacher Temperature Sensor

I have an D1LC ex BT van with the rehostat controller. Not wanting to fork out lots of cash for extra 60mm ducting to allow the unit to recirculate the cabin air and use the internal thermostat, I have bought an external Eberspacher temperature sensor. The idea is that this will vary the fan speed as required.

What I can't work out is , how to wire the sensor into the system. I have a pile of downloads from Espar etc and the instructions from the actual temperature sensor but neither makes any sense. Should the 2 wires from the sensor go in to the main plug on the Eber unit or do they wire into the loom where the rehostat switch is? If so which colour wire do they need joining to?

Any answers appreciated.

PS. Its nearly fitted so no more questions after this one...I hope!

The external sensors are designed to work with an external timer/controller. If you look on ebay a seller called sarkblue is selling the controllers complete with fault display, this you can use the external sensor on.
The other thing i found out is there are several sensors available.
If you take the option i suggested it means the old reostat switch can be scrapped and the new controller takes its place.
To help you see what i mean download the manual for the seven day timer from the eber site.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Do I take it that the external temp sensor only works with the timers and not the basic rotary switch?

I don't really want to go too high tech. The basic switch next to my bunk is fine!

Springjupiter,
Not wishing to disagree with Steve, but I have a D4 (new 2006) and this has an external temp sensor plus the rotary temp control; it could be that your model won't work with this arrangement but mine does. Could look up the wiring connections if it helps but am not at home at the moment.

Alan.
