Hello, can anyone advise? Switch on fan comes on but only at about half speed, nothing else happens, have checked fuel/pump supply battery fully charged, supply wiring good, everything seems o.k. just wondered if fan motor brushes might need attention. Any help/advice welcome.Cheers,Dave

I guess that you are trying a full start up rather than a 'fan only' setting.
It could be ( many things of course!!) an issue with the ecu 'instructing the fan' to run at that speed rather than the fan motor itself.
You could check the fan by applying power direct but beware that it may require LESS than 12 volts.
Be cautious about buying any new parts as your heater is getting a bit long in the tooth now ( apologies for that) even some used spares seem ridiculously
priced. A scrapper D3 may supply what you want.

Hello, Thanks for that, not sure how to test fan, can i connect to controller or will i have to take heater apart ? cheers,Dave

It would be worthwhile downloading the D3L Workshop Manual from https://www.butlertechnik.com/technical_library/d3l-d49 It has a useful troubleshooting section, plus dismantling info.

As pvb says get the manual first. I GUESS ( as I don't have that manual here) that there is a lead from the ecu to the fan motor so you should be able to get power to the motor using that.
The manual will also tell if the motor requires less than 12 volts. I have been known to apply a quick touch of 12 volts just to be sure that a motor will spin but it is not 'recommended practice' !
In your case you need more than a quick touch anyway if you are to have confidence that the motor will reach full revs.
