Some time ago I installed an Eberspacher D1LC, which does a lovely job of warming the boat. BUT, it does tend to cut out after about 15 mins of running. I have always thought this was due to the fact that I recirculate the air and that it was the thermostat cutting in.

However, over the weekeknd I connected a faultfinder unit (bought off ebay) and looking back through the last 5 faults they are all 012 which is the overheat sensor.

Looking through the manual I think this is an overall overheat sensor. So does anyone have any ideas on trouble shooting this?

The most simple answer that I can think of is that it is installed in a relectively confined space. The exhaust hose is covered in the glass fibre sleeve but not insulated in any other way. The heat in the locker does then build up. Thinking about it since, I need to run it with the locker lid open and see if this has an effect. Could the sensor be knackered.... ???

Thoughts please....

Oh and if anyone wants to borrow a faultfinder / reset unit ..........

The overheat sensor is located on the outside of the combustion chamber. They do tend to pop off if the airflow over the chamber is insufficient. This situation can be caused by partly obstructed outlet duct or outlet, partly obstructed air inlet duct or filter screen or general fluff in or around the fan.

The sensors are bi-metallic spring strips and can weaken with age.

I would check all the ducting first to make sure all is clear.
