Hello,
I have read a lot of ways of insulating the ducting from my D4, it has made me more confused than when I started. It appears the options are:-
Thermawrap spiral pipe lagging, from the likes of Screwfix etc.
Armaflex split foam ( what thickness of wall insulation 9/13/19/25mm??? )
Eberspacher jacket with the s/s push buttons.
Rock wool and bubble wrap.

The combined length of 100mm & 75mm is around is around 10/12M with the D4 roughly in the middle.

Any thoughts are appreciated, alternatively if any body has some to sell please let me know.

The Eberspacher and Webasto Thinsulate lagging is far the easiest to use and very effective. BTW 60mm duct is too small for proper air distribution from a D4 a proper install would be a minimum of 75mm and if possible 90mm, much quieter and less back pressure. I think if you insulate what you have it may lead to overheat trips.

Apologies for the mistake with sizes, I think the drugs have kicked in!
Post now updated with correct sizes.

Ah! that's more like it, get it insusulaed then, the difference is measurable, I have done several before and after tests on vent temperature and it is quite remarkable, if your duct runs through lockers where clothing etc is kept then leave a couple of hundred mm uninsulated as it helps with keeping stuff dry and promotes air circulation.

I used Webasto insulating on our Ebby system (no local Ebby supplier but Webasto on hand)....difference is remarkable. Well worth doing.

I have used Armaflex on my previous boat. Unfortunately on my current boat I could not find any place to by it privately. For me the Armaflex ws great.
The air temp in the cabin outlet went from lukewarm to really hot.

Another recommendation for Armaflex but you need to use their high temperature version if you want to keep within the temperature spec issued by Eberspacher. For the 60mm ducting I used
68mm bore HT Armaflex http://www.pipelagging.com/76mm-arm...-150c-uv-resist-outdoor-use-x-2m#.VDK0d_l38xh

I did not split the lagging but slid it over from one end. This is not easy as the foam insulation does not slide well. It helps to put a plastic bag over the end of the ducting before sliding on the insulation. Once on you can pull out the bag.

Hello,
The guys that used the Armaflex, what size thickness of insulation did you use, it comes in 9/13/19 & 25mm.
Cheers

For the 60mm ducting i used this http://www.pipelagging.com/76mm-arm...-150c-uv-resist-outdoor-use-x-2m#.VfmcbmhwZJ-

It is a baggy fit over the ducting but makes it possible, but not easy, to fit it without splitting it to wrap it round. 13mm wall thickness works well. I put a tiewrap around each end of the insulation to squash it against the duct so any heat between the duct and insulation cannot escape.
