Just bought a boat with an eberspacher heater which isn't working.
It has a temp control knob and a on off pull button. Checked all fuses which are ok and all wires appear connected.

Can anyone give me a rundown procedure on how to check for the fault? The on off knob has a green end which I assume should light up when pulled on but doesn't.

No sound can be heard coming from the motor.
Thanks
John

Is it a pull switch?
I have an early eber and the switch is rotary. Clockwise for heat and anti-clockwise for fan only. The green light in the middle is arrow-shaped.
As sailorman says, the control box has a fuse, but there should be an in-line fuse on the supply as well.

Check volts at the heater; carefully check fuses esp the bullet one which can have hairline cracks; does the pump click when you turn it on - direct wire to pump to check; does the fan blow at all/can you turn it manually??? Turn the heater control fully up esp if its not very cold when you are testing it.

In reply to Gordonmc. It has a pull switch which I assume turns it on/off and a rotary switch which does click on and is numbered 1-5 which I assumed was the temperature settings?

Thanks Guys Im off to the boat Sunday so will try all your suggestions and report Back.

I suggest you to check all wire connections - i have heard that some heaters have problems that those connectors "die" too quickly.
