My D2 goes straight to cold fan mode when I turn it on and the fuel pump doesn't tick away like it should.

I I was thinking the controller might be goosed.. Does anyone know of any way to confirm this before I take the whole thing out the boat?

That was our problem ,the controller had got wet and the relay rusted .The fuel pump also needed to be primed once we got the new controller but it fired up straight away.

Check all the connections before opening the Controller.
I replaced all teh electrical connectors on mine 9available form car electrics places - can't remember the name but I am sure someone will come along
Male and female to fit plugs and sockets then change them one by one - problem solved in my case.

Disconnect the controller, then connect the yellow wire and the red wire, the heater should then run. It may be locked out and need the fault memory clearing using a diagnostic code reader ( some 7-day timers also have this function). Check that you are getting a good 12 volt supply at the heater, often fuses and their holders corrode, dropping voltage

Connect the pump direct to 12v if you don't get any ticks your pump is dead, that's where I'd start.

Never do that, you should not connect direct to power for more than a couple of seconds, you need to quickly pulse the power on and off or you could damage the pump. As has been said, to verify a controller fault just disconnect and jump the red and yellow.

Doesn't the controller check resistance across the flame sensor and the glow pin before it does anything else. .. not got the diagnostic guide with me so can't be sure but thought the fan started as it was doing those checks. .

Your right of course, forgot to mention the plus bit .
