Hi All,

Does anyone know, or can anyone point me in the direction of a minimum height above water level for the Eberspacher flue skin fitting?

I've been told mine is too low and would like to get some second opinions.

Have tried to attach a pic. Not sure if iI was successful but it should show (red arrowed) the flue outlet on my P40 factory fitted by Princess. Never had any comments about its height above waterline nor any water related probs. How low is yours and who said it's too low?

JerryC - Thankyou for that. That is exactly where the outlet is on my P40.

FlowerPower - Thankyou for your link. I'll crawl around tonight and make sure the elbow in the hose hasn't slipped.

There is no set height above WL , what is important is that there is a swan neck in it to stop water entering the boat , I guess this observation is from the surveyor ? Post a pic of the installation from the heater , exhaust etc .
Princess would not get it wrong if it was a factory fit .

For a start I bet you have bilge pump skin fitting outlets as near to the waterline as poss infact I bet your heater outlet is sited above some others .ill take a look at some advert pics to see if I can see it .

Well I can see a stainless outlet on both sides of the hull in the pics , both are inline with the other skin fittings which are plastic , there will have a swan neck in the hose attached to them to prevent water flowing back .
As long as your exhaust pipe has the same then there is no issue and I or any dealer fitting heating would do the same .

Just looked at sprockers pics , his is in the same place , must be a factory fit.

Club member has Princess 360. Had two problems. Water mysteriously getting into lazerette. Tried all the usual suspects, rudder stocks, drain/ bilge pump skin fittings etc. Coming back from long fast run saloon was once full of black oily smoke. Sticking his head under deck revealed ............. Eberspacher exhaust fitting was constantly under water on plane and exhaust hose clamp and hose had corroded and had collapsed allowing water into boat. It also would not allow exhaust to exit pipe as constantly underwater. The heater was factory fitted and exhaust fitting is basically too close to water line.

Thankyou Paul, I suspected as much. Just an over enthusiastic surveyor I think. I will check the swan neck at the weekend and make sure that it is still correct orientation, and that none of the connecting pipe has corroded.

There is another P40 on opposite pontoon to me with factory fit Eber, and his exhaust fitting is in exactly the same position, so I'm happy all is OK with placement now.

Many thanks for everyones help with this.

similar location on P360. Skin fitting seal was perfectly OK but s/s exhaust pipe had corroded at joint and was allowing water to enter boat at anything other than displacement speeds. Suspect that the chosen location was more to do with aesthetics than engineering in this instance. As this model of boat ages this poor installation practice could be revealed more often ? On very early Princess installations the exhaust was frequently just under combing on mine it is at least halfway up the transom.
