Has anyone else carried out a service on this heater? It's about 10 years old and has worked faultlessly for all that time but this season has started to smoke heavily on start up. This smoke does clear once running but it looks and smells naff.

I've given up on the search ad thought t would be easier to ask.

Sorry if it's been done to death but SWMBO is very important to me and heating is a must!

Thanks in advance.

DL3c service

I serviced mine last season and found it very staight forward. Parts I used were spare gaskets (two, one fiber one hard), glow plug and guard and a small filter for the fuel pump.
Firstly I removed plastic cover with the help of a carpet tack remover, unplugged wiring looms (taking digital photo's to help rebuild), split combustion chamber and scraped out klinker (over half a cup full!), replaced glow plug and guard, renewed fuel filter. Last of all I checked voltage at heater to make sure of no voltage drop. I'm sure you could do lots more but a little TLC went a long way. I won't do it every season but once in a while will keep it sweet.
