Eberspacher D4 keeps switching off

Weird thing is this happened on my last visit so I hopped into the marina and it worked fine when connected to shore power.
But if I am getting 12.8 it cant be a low voltage issue.
Thanks but that's what has got me scratching my head. The only time it dipped below 12v was when the glow plug was heating up. It got past that point without issue and only started to power down a few minutes later. It was doing this even with engine running.

My guess is you're measuring the voltage on the wrong side of the problem. If it works on shore power then it's an electrical issue, seems pretty cut and dry to me. I had to redo a bunch of connections on mine but it works flawlessly since. Bin it and get a cheap one if you like, but fixing it will be cheaper and less work and you'll have a premium heater still. If it works for a little while then maybe the wires warming is causing an issue, but it definitely sounds like wiring.

I've bought a cheap one so I can work on the eber.
I measured right at the eber, exposing core after the connector plug.
I was surprised too as symptoms suggest a low voltage issue.
Maybe all will become clear on the bench.

id think it most likely a battery issue too...but good news is that you have the 801 controller. They can show fault codes in a menu. can't remember exactly, but you hold in a few buttons together to go into diagnostic mode. can reset too

I have an old Ardic unit that was behaving just as you describe. It was over 1m above the main fuel tank and struggling to lift enough fuel. It is now fed from it's own small high level tank and works fine.
