Hi guys i beed some help with my heater
Its a d3lc compact so built in ecu
The heater turns on fine
I can adjust temp ect
The problem is if i turn it off i cant turn it back on
I need to disconnect it from the battery, reconnect it then it will power up
Any ideas why this is?
Thanks

I assume that you are turning it off correctly? IE just switching the control switch to off and letting the heater shut down process work properly?
Having to switch all power off suggests that the ECU is having to ‘reset itself’ by bing switched off.

Is this a "new to you" heater or one which has just started playing up? How long are you leaving it before trying to restart? If it's not allowed to run through its full shut down procedure it may as already suggested need a reset or, if you have an internal temperature sensor, it could be the thermostat is telling it the boat is still at the selected temperature.

Hi thanks for the reply
I'm turning it off by the controller

It's one I have for a while but never got round to fitting it or testing it till now
I turn it off by the switch wait for it but then when it's completely turned off it won't power on again

As far as I'm aware the cable looks normal it's a short cable
What do you mean by the provenance of the heater?

I mean is it a used ex vehicle unit and if so which one, some were integrated with the vehicles bus and that may be the issue, many were not but it's a good place to start, also if you wish I can email you a copy of the manual which may help you, if you want it just PM me an email address.

As far is I'm aware it was in a boat and this problem happened over time I think
I did buy it a while ago
Sure thanks

Ok I tried everything
The 801 controller had fault codes but deleted them and now there's no faults even tho it won't turn on after a complete shut down
Look looks fine no cuts ect
I even had a spare heater same one which I tottaly forgot about but the ecu bust busted I think
But same problem , must be something wrong with ecu ??

Could well be, your simplest and most likely fruitful course of action would be to whip it off and take it to an Eber commercial dealer so they can run it on the test bed coupled up to EDITH, take the controller too.
We're can I find out the nearest dealer around Romford , Essex?
Thanks

I've used Colchester Fuel Injection - very knowledgeable and helpful people. Their main business is commercial vehicles, so they don't have "marine" pricing!

Are marine specialist more expensive then?
Will see how far they are thanks

As already mentioned, Colchester Fuel injection are very good for Ebers in my experience. Commercial dealers are not necessarily cheaper than marine, it's just that there are more of them and you are likely to get faster service if you take the unit to them, though site visits are usually not so easy as their customers almost always take the vehicles to them, a bit difficult for you. :D
