I have a newly installed eber dl5 with I guess the basic control unit. I wasent offered any alternatives at the time and now after use I find it is regulated tyo switch off after one hour.
Can any one tell me why this is now put into new installations, as I just cant see the point and can I get any advice as to whether I can overide the one hour time to switch off?

Cant believe Im the only one not impressed with this new control device?

I had this fitted by Princess Motor achts in December as part ofa new build. Cant beleve they would use BT van stock, but the sales guy did mumble something about the control unit only works for an hour at a time??? dident really take it in at the time.

Can it be overrriden at all?

Meant to also say, yes there is a wire that enables / disables the one hour timer, I don't have the info to hand right now, but I am sure there will be someone along soon who does. I seem to recall it being purple, but don't rely on my memory.

Thanks Anthony for information. But why provide such a stupid arrangement for the thing to switch off after 1 hour. Still dont understand it.

So its the purple wire ehhhhhh, got to find a way to overide the cut off time

It says in the manual:

Press and hold the P key and whilst holding repeatedly press the up arrow key to select the desired time in increments of 10 minutes.

Didnt work on mine but you never know.......................!!!

Nope, doesn't work like that.
If Princess fitted I bet it's ok. Also you wouldn't fit a D5 in a BT van, it would melt.

When you turn on the heater press and release the bottom right hand corner switch. This will turn it on for one hour only...

If you want it on for a longer time period, press and release the bottom centre button. Repeat this several times and you will see the amount of time increment by one hour upto 4 or 8 hours and then go to continuous, press once more to go back to shorter periods.

When time selected and you are happy with temp setting it will turn off automatically.

IF however, you want to turn the heating off at any time just press and release the original right hand bottom switch once.

If this does not answer the problem get onto an 'Ebersmacker' heating man. Enjoy.

Thats exactly correct! When i shut mine down I reset the time down to 10mins and lower the thermostat - that way it shuts down gently :-)

Seems to work as never had any issues at all - always starts first press and heats up fab.
