The Eberspacher D3L on my Westerly Pentland when in service takes the route of least resistance and sends most of the hot air to the aft cabin. Questions then is:
a. Is there a "Controllable" outlet that I can regulate to force the flow more towards forward and if so where from ?
I do realise that all the outlets (3) cannot be shut off together.
b. Is there any insulation I can wrap round or Velcro round the concertina pipework to reduce the radiated heat loss primarily in the engine compartment ?
someone mentioned "Thinsulate" ?? Where from ?

Welcome to the Forum CapnBen. I thought you lot in Grimsby were well hard up there. Heating on a boat- unheard of (Just Joking)

If you want any info on Eberspachers have a word with that nice man on Henry Watson.

We fitted a Webasto, in which all outlet vents as closable. You just have to remember not to leave them all closed. I would have thought it was possible to replace your always open vent (aft cabin?) with a closable one.

If your venting is 80 mm or 60 mm, try the insulation provided by Keto (0120 2715171). I've found them very helpful and obliging.

Eberspacher recomendation is that the final outlet in the line should be an always open, and that all others should be controllable. Keto do two types of thinsulate, one that you install like a sock when doing initial fit, and another that can be wrapped round an existing installation.

see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.ketogroup.com/3m/thermaduct.htm>keto</A> for the appropriate thermoduct product.

The thinsulate stuffs good but expensive. I used a hot water tank jacket from B&Q-cost about £8-comes in strips & you can wrap it round & hold it in place with cable ties-works well.
