Earlier in the year (March) the Ebersbacher spluttered and smoked so I called in a marine engineer who arrived, dismantled and took it away to service. The engineer then carried out quite satisfactorly some other work. After much chasing the Ebersbacher was re-installed in May, but won't fire up. Two further visits by the Engineer in May have not rectified and despite best endeavours over the past few months to get him back to fire-up the Ebersbacher and prove it works (and to then pay him) I am having some difficulty. Promised visits don't happen! Can anyone recommend a reliable engineer around Staines who I can call upon please? Previous engineer is now on his last chance to fix and be paid. Can't help but feel I have been more than patient, six months is a long time isn't it?

Hi Brayman Thank you for the reply. I would be grateful for the number. Please PM me if that is the protocol. Again, many thanks.

Number one check to get these to fire up is to make sure that sufficient power is getting to the unit. They take a basin full of amps to get fired up so make sure EVERY connection is cleaned, even the fuse clips, and tightened - then try turning it on with the engine running at fast idle and charging batteries. Just one slightly dirty/ loose connection will give a significant voltage drop and stop it going. The high power initially is for the heating element which cuts out once the unit is going and heated up.
Don't worry if there is a cloud of grey smoke, it is just old residual fuel burning and it will clear eventually. Best of luck.
