Is it just me, or was there no-one in the cockpit even after they'd hit the island? I'd be concerned that the crew were sick or disabled, if not worse, if a collision like that didn't bring them on deck. I hope the catamaran called in a Mayday Relay on their behalf, if it wasn't able to offer assistance itself.

I can't really understand the patois, but it sounds like they're referring to someone coming up naked towards the end.

First Mate and I were on passage Brixham - Alderney some years ago when an alloy yacht was seen on a collision course. It was about 5 nm's off Berry Head. I altered course as he did not, we passed 150 metres apart. He was sailing, all sail up, port tack, about 6.5 knots.

As we passed, no one in the cockpit. Nor was there for some time, I had the bins on him untill I could not see into the cockpit. I called the Coastguard, they said they would look out for him nearer inshore.

Never heard anything else, on the radio or from the Coastguard.
