Morning,

i need to move the boat out of Eastlands boat yard this evening on or about low water.

Low is 19.05 and 0.57 meters. any local experience about how much water there might be? Need to get back up to Mercury assume once we are under the M27 it should be no issue depth wise but i dont have any charts in the office with me at the moment!

thanks in advance!

Not sure how much help this is, the chart I've currently got access to shows a drying height of between 0.1 and 0.6 at Eastlands so if that is still accurate then you will have a problem. I'm based at Foukes Yard and in big springs there is only a very narrow channel left.

There is a nasty spit of drying mud that stretches from the downstream side of the bridge on the right bank (where that narrowboat is moored) right over into at least the centre of the fairway. Best plan is to hug the left hand side of the bridge then aim for the pontoons on the left. Once there I think you are ok. Have done this OK at just under a meter but never at 0.57 metres!

By the way, my tide guide says 0.5 meters at 18.45 for Bursledon

many thanks!

i have changed plan and will pop down there in the next hour and do it then. safer at the top of the tide me things! was just truing to make life easier by doing it after work but not worth the risk!!

thanks again!

i suspect this evening would have been a problem. just been on the water at the top of the tide and it is one of the highest i have seen so tonight should be one of the lowest!

thanks for your quick replies, problem solved!

Flower Power, as i am finding out quickly, everything on this boat is above standard so the prospect of 4 stainless props worked as they are does not appeal!!!
