East Coast to Versemeer

SWMBO says we should get away this summer so I fancy this. When is everybody going? Need to make sure I don't get set up with some work trips in the way.

I've just looked at the Google Earth images of the islands on the Versemeer, I didn't realise how big they are and how sandy. I think I've got this link right...

Versemeer: the approaches to these islands require some care if you're not to hit the offlying sand banks. Not a prob, just watch out for the little inner marks and follow them religiously.

Worth making for the AB at the dam end of the Versemeer, then walk over the dam to the magnificent beach - paradise for kids of all ages!

Finally, if you're taking the Ramsgate route over, have no fears about Fulgers Gat - it's two miles and gets down in places to 3m or so but on a rising tide who cares? And if that is offputting, you shouldn't be going to the inland waters of Holland, you'll seldom see more than 1-2m under your keel for miles!

Good hunting.

I guess we're going to have to share the Versemeer with those Dutch kids. We have a secret weapon though - she's nearly 3 years old.

Only problem with the veersmeer is getting food stocks, Veer itself is very good for buying things for putting on your wall but there are no food shops that i know of, a very nice English bloke on a large Dutch Gin Palace took me down to the Supermarket just outside Middleburg in his Jag (yes his man had dropped it off for him!) so we were ok, but a bike is essential, unless anyone can advise otherwise?

The little inner marks (2.5 meters) disappear at the end of the season, but should be back by Easter.
However be aware that there are places between these marks and the dredged channel, where it is shallower - I've had the depth gauge down to 1.4m with a 1.3m draft!

Last time we used the Supermarket at Kortgene. I thought it was expensive then but that was 4 years ago and the Euro was about 1.5 to the £. Maybe we should take all our food with us this time!!!

This is all sounding a bit off-putting:
No food
No water and a 1.7m fin keel

Please tell me it's going to be great. I do plan to go north from the Veersmere.

out through Zandkreiksluis & the water is deeper than the North Sea :D.
Dont worry depth not a prob except getting onto some islands.
we take bikes & stock-up Middelburg or Zeirekzee,Bruinesse,Wilheimstadt, Herkengen in fact any large village but Middelburg has 2 large SM ask Johan HM for details
