East Coast Sailing

Thanks for the heads up. I was pleased to see the reference to the new survey of the channel at Stone Point. This does confirm that it is indeed much shallower AND narrower. 0.5m above Chart datum and only 50m wide is a bit tight. Best avoided anywhere near LW springs.

Width of the Walton Channel?

Think there is a bit of confusion here.

The 'pinch point' across the extending bar is far less than 50meters wide.

I think you will find that the 50meters quoted refers to the length of the track across the shallow bit, rather than the width.

Thanks, having examined the chart more carefully I realise you are correct, it is even tighter than I said.

Long Keeler, where did you read that? I had a look at the eMag but could not find anything about Osea. Did I miss it?

If you click on "GIANT TURBINES FOR GUNFLEET" then scroll down. There is also a picture.

Also, as mentioned, the .5m depth at Stone Point. You will need to "+" the .pdf file.

Regards,

Do please all note that the four yellow buoys are retained as a warning that there are reduced depths across the Stumble - or put another way there is still a hazard to navigation, so exercise extreme caution. Unless the rubble is actually removed, it seems unlikely to return to 'normal' in the foreseeable future.

Thanks

Long Keeler, found it. I read this update a while ago and had hoped the matter may have been resolved by now. Just imagine what council would do to you if you dumped tonnes of rubble across a public highway. Hung, drawn and quartered I would think. I wonder why this is taking so long to resolve?
