I have been offered, what is supposed to be an East Coast One Design. About 27 to 29 feet long, carvel planked hull, drop keel, and this one is Gaff rigged, with a small petrol engine. Does anybody have any pictures or advice regarding these craft please ? Where might there be pictures and drawing of the E.C.O.D yachts ? Thanks in advance, BWM. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

ECODs as I remember them were 1/2 deckers about 27 foot, long keel, not centreboarders and had fairly long overhangs.
They were apparently originally gaff, but were re rigged as "Marconi" ie bermudan.
One at least has been returned to gaff and used to regularly beat the bermudan ones.
Designed as day racers, don't know that any had engines.
When racing a large bailing bucket was essntial equipment.

OK, my hands up. The advert says Buchanan 31ft East Coast one design, but it looks like a Stella to me. Definitely Holman style.

I agree. Looks bigger than a Stella, too. That's an Essex Restricted Class, I think. A lengthened, clinker, East Anglian. Buchanan design.

Definatly not an east anglian!Bows wrong! And the coach roofs not rased over the galley chart table.
Its not the MK1 either as the cabins brought forward of the mast.

It "could" be a British attempt at building a folkboat and pictured with a wide angle as the oil barrels make it smaller than it looks????

If anybody would like a couple of pictures, 1 of the hull, and the other, the rudder, please send me a PM with your email address. I cannot upload a picture to this forum. Regards, BWM.
