East Coast Gigs... Hope its a big success

Wouldnt it be great to see Gig Racing Regattas on the East Coast like they have in the West Country with Pilot Gigs.. I for one hope it catches on big time !

Out of interest two four oared Gigs were built by me back in 2005 & 6 at Benfleet, Dauntless & Proud Mary for lower Thames Rowing Club.
Its likely i will build another this summer.
The sport is most certainly taking off with quite a few events now in the calendar, Manningtree paddle & Oar festival organised by Stour Sailing Club, Ltrc Estuary Challenge off Old Leigh, Row 4 a reason at Heybridge, the Maldon new years day race and the second Round Canvey rowing & sailing race organised by Benfleet yacht club is on the 1st Sept.
