East coast clubs with camping?

I am thinking of moving and storing my dinghy somewhere on the east coast and was wondering if anyone knew of any sailing clubs that either allowed camping within the grounds or was located very close to a campsite?

Preferably a club that does both dinghy and yacht sailing as I hope to buy something larger with accomodation at some point, but I thought moving the dinghy first would be a good way to get to know the area and make some local contacts.

Marconi Sailing Club on the Blackwater does dinghy camping weeks. They also have larger Cruisers and Cruiser racing. Very active.

Brightlingsea Sailing Club has a camp site right alongside. Not an active cruiser fleet, BUT the Colne Yacht Club is relatively active on the cruiser front and there is (or always was!!) an unwritten agreement between the clubs that being a member of one will allow entry to the races of the other.

As an alternative and sadly just round the corner from Gods own river, if you venture along the Blackwater, Marconi Sailing club has camping as does Harlow Blackwater and both have active cruiser and dinghy fleets.

Another vote for Marconi Sailing club. I have been a member for 15 years on both the cruiser and dinghy sides. Good storage for your dinghy and reasonable fees. Being a self-help club keeps fees down. Camping is allowed at set times due to council restrictions. There is a camping fortnight in the school summer holidays, one week to train the youngsters and one just camping, plus each summer bank holiday and several other weekends when there are open meetings. If it is not a designated camping time then there are 2 camp sites behind the pubs in Steeple, just at the top of the road to the club. And the club has something that is rather special on the Blackwater, you can sail at all states of the tide! See, it just gets better and better! Have a look on the website http://www.marconi-sc.org.uk/

I think there is a small camping area at Woolverstone/Royal Harwich?

MDL at Woolverstone do allow some tents on their caravan site. I don't know how many, AFAIK it is/was limited to 2 by the planners, but I have certainly seen more than that at times.

The RHYC does have camping occasionally but only for Junior week, and some Open meetings.

Thanks

Thank you all for all the suggestions so far.

I will have to spend a bit of time looking up the clubs and see what appeals.

Southwold is nice but the river with an ebb tide can be fearsome  especially if you don't have an outboard. You can only get up as far as the harbor as there is a bridge across the river. Campsite is a walk from the club but you can camp in the garden of the club if you are a member.

The entrance has a standing wave when its wind over tide and yes you can get stuck in it ;)
