I was honoured to be asked to crew on a Stella in the East Coast Classic regatta at Levington.
What a brilliant event!
Many of the boats are jaw droppingly beautiful, not one was boring.
During the beat back up the Orwell we passed several modern plastics and the question asked was "would you want a boat like that?" Guess the answer.
The highlight of the day for me was when the skipper called for everyone to get weight on the windward rail. I don't think he meant his 80 something year old Mum, but she was out there!
Thanks Polaris for a memorable day.

There were 10 Stellas, but I meant the whole regatta fleet, about 50 boats I think. Boats like If, Gudgeon, Croix des Gardes and the Spirit boats, stunning.

Here's one of you, I think.

That's us all right - you can tell by the lack of any other boats racing in close proximity! Not sure racing is really my scene but really enjoyed seeing all the other beautiful boats at the regatta.
Trying to get around the cans before everybody else had got back to the bar and drunk the place dry also gave us opportunity to achieve a few firsts:
i) first time over 9 knots
ii) first time with the bows completely underwater
iii) first time I tore a dirty big hole in the spinnaker ...

Good sailing, decent location, and well run. Congratulations again to everybody although the weather was better last year!

Photos of Your Boat at East Coast Classics?

Due to popular demand, I have made the 400 or so photos 'public' for a limited time only (then all the mediocre ones will go "friends only").

Have a sort through here:

I've only uploaded Saturday pics so far and will try to process Sunday before this weekend. If you see your boat (or you just like the shot) drop me a PM as I can email them or I have can get them printed up to 12"x8" for £3 incl postage.

Yes - all the boats looked fantastic. Sorry there are so many of CdG (I'm biased, don't you know..). Such a nice crowd and such well-mannered and genteel racing speaking for the mid-field (can't speak for the front runners as we never saw any of them!)

And as for Clarion's crew letting out their fenders as they passed us, well....
