East Coast antifouling

I've always wondered whether ultrasonic antifouling is incredibly irritating to sensitive aquatic mammals, such as dolphins.

The effect on aquatic mammals should be minimal - it's not like it's a submarine actively pinging away.

The only thing that stopped me going down the ultrasonic antifouling route is the fact that it constantly needs power.
What if you have to leave your boat unattended for a couple of weeks?

Ultrasonics won’t suit everyone. You could run them from a solar panel, but in the UK this could be problematic.
We are plugged into the mains at Bradwell 24/7. Whilst our battery isolators are switched off, our mains supply is on. This allows us to run the ultrasonics, dehumidifiers and so on…. But for peace of mind we then fitted a galvanic isolator!
As soon as we unplug from mains, it automatically switches over to battery power. We do switch it off at night when we are onboard (otherwise you tend to tune in to the clicking from the sensors!).
For us, in Bradwell, coupled up to the mains it works fab!

My understanding, by the way, it's that Seaqueen is no longer available for leisure use even to professional applicators. It's only available for professional application to commercial vessels and structures. Bummer

Worth a try but I have been told by a tradesman that they will only sell it to commercial yards and contractors and only then after verifying that the intended use is on commecial vessels and structures (I had hoped to get around it by obtaining a supply via the back door).

It seems that Seaqueen is as effective as it is beause it is pretty nasty stuff (as if we didn't know that already!) and that SMS risked being cut off at the knees by Jotun when the latter discovered they were supplying it to the leisure market.

We used to use the International hard racing that came in glass jars coz it ate tins , now that did have heavy solvents in it

Did I not read somewhere that the Marie Nostrum was not half as good as SeaQueen?

I used it this year. Not all that impressed, but now in St Kats for a bit so a bit of fresh/brackish might help it along.
