East Coast antifouling

I'll find out I guess in due course.
We applied 4 coats of Marie Nostrum.
After 8 weeks all is good, not a mark.
However the boat is getting used a lot so most self polishing systems are ok when the boat gets used.
This weekend we've got to take the kids to uni so it'll be a two week break between sails so I'll have a good inspection next thurs/Fri.

BUT you are able to get "The Real Thing" from your boss

I've got 10ltrs of it stashed away... As witnessed by FC last weekend.... :D

Won't be enough for your exceedingly large behemoth. I'll deal with disposing of it for you, no charge :encouragement

My understanding, by the way, it's that Seaqueen is no longer available for leisure use even to professional applicators. It's only available for professional application to commercial vessels and structures. Bummer

Nice try Bru!... I reckon 10ltrs should just about be right for PoH!

We have ultrasonic antifouling AND we copper coated this year..... no weed, no barnacles, and haven't needed to clean the log impeller since
launch in April

This might be the way to go although running the mains hook up out to the mooring may be a bit of a challenge

I've always wondered whether ultrasonic antifouling is incredibly irritating to sensitive aquatic mammals, such as dolphins.

Is sailing along with all those ultrasonics bashing away the maritime equivalent of the teen in his modded Corsa with the 5kW sound system in the boot?

That won't be anywhere near enough.
We have a similar sized boat, and when I last antifouled (2008), we needed close to 15ltrs.

PS: FWIW - was chatting to a neighbour a week or two ago, and he adds copper sulfate to his antifoul and he gets VERY good results.

This is Jotun Seaqueen after 9 months at sea. I wasn't very impressed as I had used 2 good coats under perfect conditions. I had spent 5 weeks becalmed in the Doldrums and that was the reason, I think, for the heavy growth of goosekneck barnacles.

I don't know why my pictures don't appear from Photobucket anymore, just a link. Am I doing something wrong?

No - that is not how it works. Only when the marine life is on (or very close) to the hull will it have any effect.
It would appear that it has no effect on fish, a test that we have done whilst in a marina (Titchmarsh) was to switch the ultrasonics on whilst a shoal of mullet were at the back of the boat. They done nothing and just carried on swimming around us.

From the Chav with the jacked up Jeanneau, fluffy dice and polished anchor!
