I am looking at appointing Dominic Buckley of East Anglia Yacht Surveys to carry out a very detailed pre-purchase survey for me. Would appreciate any views and any experience, good or bad. Were you satisfied, or not? Issues missed? Most grateful for any thoughts. Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Hes just done a survey on my 31ft yacht. Got back a 48 page report with colour photos of lots of inaccessible places along with it on a cd to email to the insurers. The price for the work involved was very reasonable I will use him again.

Very pleased with the survey he did for my UFO 31.
He concentrated on the important and things, especially the bits you are likely to miss or overlook yourself. Less emphasis on the obvious and cosmetic blemishes of an old, well used boat.
Definitely will use him again.

He is seriously brilliant and very cheap. He has just done a very detailed survey on my wooden boat which is subject to litigation and required a 'proper' and very detailed survey and like others have said he is a dab hand at accessing all the difficult to get to places and he is exceptional in 'reading' a boat. 48 page super detailed survey with colour pictures linked to text and CD with 200 further photos........around £350 inc a 60 mile journey each way. He also encourages you to be present. His only fault if fault it be is that he is so good that he might seriously piss off all the brokers and boatyards by constantly finding fault with their boats but surely that is what he is for.

Just a brief note to thank you all for your replies which I greatly appreciate. You have all helped me decide - liked what I had heard but now I am sure and will approach East Anglia Yacht Surveys. Your responses are what makes a forum. Thank you. Only hope I can help you all some time. Best wishes
