I shall probably be moving from Devon to South Norfolk/North Suffolk.
Can anyone tell me about the availability of moorings/marinas (if there are any) between say Thorpeness and Great Yarmouth. It all appears a bit devoid of anywhere to keep a sailing boat, someone did say that Walberswick was a possibility.
Any info gratefully received
Trevor

There's a new marina just opening in Lowestoft, its one of the Associated British Ports ones. If its as good as Ipswich it will certainly be worth a look. Plus you should get good rates as they will be pushing it.

That's the wrong way to move. From clear blue deep water to shallow mud and moving sandbanks.

Re: Lowestoft

There is two marina developments almost complete in Lowestoft.

the first one as mentioned being done by ABP (140 berths)

and a smaller 50 berth one by some independant chaps.

plans are afoot to add approx a further 400 berths in the outer harbour over the next few years.

Oh and we are close to all of them!

Southwold or Lowestoft

and maybe Aldeburgh are your natural choices. Yarmouth is a commercial port with no yacht facilities (it is a very busy offshore oil industry supply base).

Lowestoft is certainly preferable, from the point of view of ease of access to the sea in most conditions - Southwold has a slightly tricky entrance.

Aldeburgh also has a tricky entrance but has plenty of sheltered river sailing - not quite sure why you drew the line just north of it at Thorpeness?

Plenty of places to go, North and South.
