That's more like it, but most this strength in the Caribbean are still not a major issue, unless other factors are involved. (Of course everyone thinks of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, but that was 7.3, more than ten times as strong).

In October 2006 a 6.0 earthquake occurred with the epicentre just off Chaguaramas, Trinidad, a major yachting centre. No-one in Chaguaramas was hurt; the yachts at anchor had only small disturbance from the minor tsunami that resulted; of the many thousands of yachts propped up ashore there and shaken, not a single one fell over or was damaged. There was just one death on the island, a guy up a ladder.

Were yachts or yachtsmen in and around Guadaloupe affected at all?

We had an earthquake in Trinidad and St Lucia both between four and five. The mooring post in Rodney Bay, St Lucia that our bow was tied to shook about one foot side to side. There was also a serious disaster in the marina, all the bottles in the marina off licence were shaken off the shelves and broken, which caused a severe gin and wine shortage.
