Earth wiring for 240v crossover switch

It is not entirely clear from the paperwork that came supplied with the Furneaux Riddall crossover switch whether you add the earth wires from the 240v system into the switch or join them with some sort of busbar?

In the blurb it gives you the numbers for the input and output but not the earth so l presume that they get connected to a common earth? Anyone know? The website doesn't currently allow a download of the manual for this annoyingly.....and the first picture is upside down for some reason......

That wiring diagram shows the earth being connected together and not through the switch.

The switch is a 3 way 2 pole and maybe an off position.

I have a very similar switch but have a pole to switch the earth which I am sure will be told is wrong but did it to separate the earth to neutral connections of the inverter and internal generator.

I also have seperate RCD for each supply device i.e inverter/generator shore power

Bottom panel is mains distribution MCB next panel up is mains source selector and RCD's.

As Roger has said the wiring diagram shows the earth conductors all connected together but not connected to the switch

It looks like that PDF is from Mr Sterling yet it looks like a standard cam switch available from most electrical distributors.

I would like to know what Mr Sterling charges as opposed the same setup from a normal electrical distributors.

£17. I didn't know l could get one from an electrical store, l got mine at Furneaux, Portsmouth.

Not especially wrong provided the switch can conduct a fault current (even if it gets damaged in the process). Not wrong, but a little bit strange. Strange because any unused sources are disconnected from everything else by the selector switch so it is of no matter that the earth and neutral are connected at the generator or inverter.
Also a RCD for each source is rather redundant since the only place that a fault can trigger one in an unused source is between the trip and the switch.
Nothing bad as such, just redundant.

To put the OP's mind at rest, £17 isn't a bad price. And all the earth wires are connected in the first picture.

Short answer. Never connect an earth through a switch!
