I am wondering what the work situation is for cruising long term.
I won't be in the fortunate position of not having to work, so at some point along my travels I shall have to replenish the coffers.
I will have a small income from a proprty I let out but not enough to live on indefinatly.

What kind of work have others found on route ?
I have quite a good mix of skills, boat building, welding, (steel and ally) and cabinet making, all from a former life.
also I am about to qualify as a registered adult nurse.
can any of you out there advise through personal experience as I dont really want to come home to work only to visit the offsprings now and then.

I was chatting to a liveaboard Carpenter who said every town he stops in someone wants a kitchen fitting . He seemed to be doing ok on the profits .

I think you need to be more specific as to where you want to go.

My guess is that when you are in an area of reasonable living costs, work will be more difficult to find. And if you hope to gain funds from fellow sailors you will come across the problem you have and restrictions from marina owners to hinder your competition.
