Metcheck is looking at a series of secondary lows -

The first system is expected across the UK on Wednesday night, gales are certainly expected in Northern and Western areas but our eyes are fixed on a system which *could* cause some real problems to the South on Friday. Don't forget, this is right at the end of the model vision but we thought it best to mention this now as if this system hits the UK in the way the models predict, you'll be picking up your neighbours shed on Saturday morning.

Lets hope tey are wrong

Is that a week tomorrow, then? Don't look much like stormy weather down here at the moment. The Sun is just going to bed (1630 -ish) after a glorious afternoon. Red at night and all that.

Theres certainly something nasty showing at the moment - as you say Wednesday up to 40 knots SSW central channel area, and then decreasing and veering NW, then building to 6 or so. Looks like the freshest breezes might just miss the land and be out in the Western Approaches - but I bet the models will change fairly rapidly over the next days - it looks very unstable at the moment.

I think that Metcheck have spotted a probabilty of a really nasty development at the end of next week - though it is really only speculation at the moment. Last year we had a huge storm on that weekend.

Now Metcheck is saying 7mph winds for Somerset on Friday, altho there commentary warns of big gales for the south!

Funnily enough Windguru now forecasting 30kts of wind for \Friday!!
