Very easy to report , 0800 80 70 60 , if you mention to the operator that there is an 'offence in progress' , it will be much more likely that the bailiff can get them. , as they love catching people in the act. Too many times they get there and they have gone or the report is days old.
I wouldn't start fishing early yourself , Sod's law says it will be you that gets caught and not the habitual offender.
I imagine you are a caring considerate fisherman , so understand the reason for the close season , to let the fish breed. Just because one idiot breaks the bylaw , doesn't mean that everyone has to. It's not a law for the fun of it , but to sustain the fish stocks.
Fisheries enforce this , not waterways by the way.
Bailiffs can't be expected to patrol every length of bank on the river , they rely on public spirited people like yourself to let them know where it is going on.![]()
