EA and CRT establish joint working group

So the question remains: Are the trustee's and the minister going to agree on funding? I suspect that may be an 'interesting' meeting.

Would the CaRT charge more and have a different license model to what's happening at the moment? What would it mean to us?

This is the next stage in what is likely to be a very long process that was promised after the last review. As John Kemplay mooted in 2000, the only way to make the EA navigations affordable to the CRT (then BW) would be to split navigation and registration from river levels and flood risk management to operate them separately as happens elsewhere in UK.

It would be logical to have a single, national registration system that required all boat owners, wherever they moor, to buy a licence to keep a boat on the river.

However, the CRT visits are merely a data gathering exercise at this stage.
