Dyneema better without cover?

I was thing of using some 10mm SK78 for a main sheet. Stronger and thinner than my existing main sheet, which would mean less friction on my German main sheet system it currently has 14mm braid on braid. I asked Marlow Ropes for their advice, they answer was, straight Dineema ìsn'the suitable. Too slippy on the winches and clutches and a low melting point. I bought D2 racing instead.

It depends what you're using it for.

In a cascade system, or a backstay, used as soft shackles etc naked is good.
But it will slip on your normal winches and clutches and due to the smaller diameter its hard on the hands as well.

We use 8mm naked for running backstays. no clutches or sheaves so no wear. We use dyneema with braid on main and mizzen halyard and spinnaker halyard. We use spinnaker halyard to lift the rib every night so it gets lots of use. We wore through the braid so now have an additional dyneema braid on top of wear section. Seems good so far. I think for high wear areas you need a braid or the dyneema will have a short life. We have one racing spec dyneema halyard with outer braid that is 15 years old and still in great condition
