I have just viewed and greatly enjoyed another of your excellent videos. Having lived and sailed for most of my 60 odd years around the East Coast, one of my pleasures in life is to agree with all those “Yotties” from other parts of the country when they start going on about what an awful place Essex is, and how sailing on the East Coast is particularly dreadful.

I fear that that your excellent vids are only going to encourage them to up anchor and come up here to take a look - and stay !

Now.. you may think I am an anti social old F***t , (and I must confess it has been said before) but I rather like our creeks & anchorages sleepy & quiet the way they are, and dont want to encourage any more of the B*****s to come up here.

Can you make one that is less than complimentary in order to put them off ?

Mr Winter is worrying me too.... how could he compare the Ransom children with those wet rags from Enid Blyton - sacrilege!

I enjoyed the video though and look forward to the next! :)

Any publicity about sailing has the same effect on me,has done since growing up on the banks of the Hamble river 40 years ago.......& has just increased having watched so many wonderful natural environments spoilt by over population.
If only there were a way of turning back the clock:(
 
Ransome and too many people

Apologies to the Ransomites - I have had an inbox full of outraged people who feel that I have been unfair to the Saintly Arthur - although there have also been a few who have contacted me saying that it is about time some-one came out about the man and his works. We are currently constituting a self help committee and are expecting a massive input of Lottery Funding any day now.

Having said that one person quite rightly told me to shut up as Ransome has sold more books than I have. That is certainly true.

My Brother told me that my books are the sort that once you have put them down are almost impossible to pick up.

As for overcrowding - I am sure I will enjoy Scotland, Ireland, Wales and the West Country just as much should the money not run out before I get there.

The films to come may encourage some of those South and East coasters to move to a new place - but deep down I suspect that many of them rather enjoy the Hamble scramble.

The boat is now at Aldeburgh - afloat for the winter - I will be posting new vids every friday through the winter.. I have hardly started on the backwaters, then there is the Stour, Orwell, Deben and Alde, Butley and Ore to film.

its a cold time of year for sailing - but the light and the birds are brilliant.

I've watched all the clips so far now and there's some great inspirational stuff on there.

It's always nice to see Dylan not sitting on the fence with his opinions, though I have to say that it's more than possible I drive a BMW and may have a degree of folically 'challengedness' but I like to think I don't fit his stereotype.

I also own a motorboat (which to be fair is up for sale) so if I could managed to pick up a Jetski and some waterski's then I could be on Dylan's most hated list. :D

Sadly Jetski's do nothing for me and I don't own planks of wood for my feet. I'm also spending my time randomly floating around the east coast with the occasional moment of actual sailing so perhaps i'm a hybrid! :)

But I've gotta say the East Coast is getting some fine publicity in Dylan's clips. Let's hope not too many people know the way. :D
