Came across a nice gadget the other day for anyone who wants to be able to play DVD movies . A small multi-region DVD player that will also play all formats of CD and is also MP3.

Furthermore this device is 12v, and comes with a dc to dc converter to be able to cope with higher voltages when the batteries are being charged.

Reasonable price from here, but be warned, their procedure for paying is a bit of a pain!

yes a modern laptop does have the ability to play a dvd, but uses a lot more power than the 1000MW used by this. (and it is multi-region)

We use our lappy toppy for DVDs when tied up. The screen cannot be seen clearly from wider angle, especially if the image is dark, so when there is four of us we tend to end up huddled fairly close, which is ok for a family group.

Multi-region .... no problem as there are a lot of corrector s/ware progs for region specific s/ware players etc. on PC's .... as long as you don't use up all slots on your PC for regions - the s/ware reads in and opens up the system to virtually any region.

Yeh - I think he meant 1000mW ......

but is this the player TO tv ... or the all-in one jobbie with screen ?? As I have looked at plenty of these and power is quoted higher .... on all I seen

Talbot,

I hope you don't mind, but I'm in the market for one of thesem and have some questions:-
what is the output connection?
Is it a scart or a phono composite video?
Can you output in RGB mode?
What do you output it to - an LCD TV?

Sorry for bombarding you, but I couldn't see the info on the web site, and this is just what I have been looking for.

Checking the qweb-site I can answer from their blurb .... so here goes :

Output is RCA

RGB .... its a TV job so no other poss.

LCD TV ....as long as you have RCA jacks inputs - it will connect to any TV .....

RCA is the nice yellow / black / red plugs that come with Video Cameras / plug into front of many tv's nowadays ....

Now my one observation that I don not like on the site :

Quote : Note: European or British adapters will not be supplied, all units will only include North American standard AC adapters. Unquote

Which means that 12v in car / boat ok ..... no prob. But at home - you will need a 240 - 110 convertor to use it. They are not so easy to find now in uk as they once were ......

Nice looking though .... let us know how you get on.

if you do not have one, would you mind if I sent you one for you to test?

Otherwise I will have to keep my trusty laptop for movie nights......
