Dutch language

My Chinese born wife has been refused a visa to visit The Netherlands for a few days as a tourist. The reason for refusal is in Dutch and their embassy justifyably refuse to translate it into English. I would be grateful if a Dutch reader would send me a private message with their email address and I will send the document. I am not looking for a full translation of the two pages but I would be grateful for the gist.

I may be awfully simple - does the word "Schengen" appear anywhere in the text? They may just be telling her she does not need one.

If she holds a visa from any country which is a party to the Schengen agreement she can visit Holland....so apply to an EU country, party to the agreement, whose language you do speak, eg Germany or France, for a visa, then pop over to Holland.

You will be best served by ..

getting an invite, fully certified by in the Municipal Offices of the inviter.

ALL Schengen countries have to agree the issue of the visa before it will be issued, this normally takes a minimum of three weeks for Chinese persons.

The refusal letter in Dutch does not tell you much, but does tell you how to appeal.
