Dusseldorf ‘23 - Anyone going ?

Great pics. I forgot how many “Big” boats they display inside at “Boot”.

Thanks. I’m even more excited to go now !

The south entrance is close to the Motorboat areas and there’s a cloakroom there. If you join the Boot club you can get a two day pass online for €33. €27 per day on the door.

I tried their website at boot.com. It's truly awful to the point of not being usable on all my browsers; Firefox, Edge and Safari. Is it the wrong link?

Their website is really bad on a phone or tablet but seems fine on a PC

Thanks for the tip re Boot Club, but the site doesn't work for me BTW at all well either on my win10 or win 8.1 PC for getting info about exhibitors etc.

My son and I went on Sunday; it was a fantastic show. Whatever you want to buy, there is a range to see.

As a Pearl owner, the new 72 was one hell of a boat. I cannot figure out how they got four on-suite cabins plus a two-berth crew cabin, but Bill Dixon is very experienced and driven on by Iain Smallbridge, who knows he has to come up with something special to beat the competition.

Now I have to see if they will change the 7 for a 6 on the side logo and convince the wife it is just a new model.

Good to be back at Düsseldorf. A fee friendly faces, narrowing down the new tender, some lovely boats - Princess S72 has lovely design features.

Tomorrow we have a look at some of the non Princess stuff in the big boy hall.

I notice you are looking at the OST tender. I was coincidentally researching tenders too. OC Tenders in N.Zealand do a similar product and have just launched a 4m one, a bit bigger than the max that OST do.

On top of an X-80 ?
Princess sale imminent, the bush telegraph is saying.
Had an interesting chat regarding profitability. The supply issues have curtailed numbers which in turn hampers overall profit but I think it’s in touching distance. They have taken a hit on some things like generators. Changing to whisper power due to Onan supply problems for instance cost them 7 figures. As an affected boat at no point was I asked for additional funds, Princess did the right thing.

Had a chat with the Whisper generator guys - strangely the Plymouth chap was in Düsseldorf and he explained a number of advantages over Onan.

Apparently margins across the range are consistent - I know you thought they should stick with the smaller stuff, but 80 footers plus are really strong at the moment. It’s the smaller stuff where competition dictates quite sensitive pricing and margins may soften a little.

I thought they put on a good presence. Going to see the other stuff tomorrow. Great show though

I had a great two days there also. Fantastic show and always amazes how they put such large boats and so many of them inside the halls. And Dusseldorf never ceases to make your realise there are still so many boat builders that you’ve never before heard of and yet they are building very nice products and have been doing so for many years !

Yes I’ve seen them. They are a bit cheaper as well I think. The side bumper panel doesn’t look quite as good though.

It’s a really smart product, you’ve just got to get your head round the price. Lead times are ludicrous when dealing with the manufacturer. Going to speak to some dealers next week.

I agree ?

The big downside for me is they are all small, short shaft and therefore low deadrise hulls, but great if you need the low weight and compactness with a relatively big internal volume. The sailing one would be a great water-toy/second tender for some.

I’m still struggling with picture size reduction as i have so many pics of and on so many beautiful boats. Sunseeker Ocean 90 blew me away And the Superhawk 55 is a no surprise runaway success. I spoke to Ewen Foster, their design guru of many years. Robert Braithwaite would have been proud.

The Rivas and Pershing were simply gorgeous too and both brands so exquisitely manufactured with no signs of panic build to get them to the show.

Fairline interiors as always take some beating for style, quality and execution. Had a good natter with “Get the fenders out” James Barke.

Princess stand was very busy but not quite so welcoming sadly but i did get on a few of their boats which are always very good if not my preferred brand. The drawers in the S65‘s master bedroom though were shockingly bad. Unaligned and shonky in operation. Not befitting of the brand, yacht itself or especially the price point. Could probably get Setag to sort it though :)

i didn't go on the Pearl but know Ian Smallridge. He’ll make a decent yacht.

wandering around some of the other halls i was immensely impressed by the Invictus 420. Its a perfect day boat which can still sleep four but with amazing features and deck space. Beautifully built and all in for Eu 900k inc vat. If you were looking for that sort of boat, it makes for a compelling argument against thise brands you are familiar with.

And there were dozens and dozens more……
