I am fitting a new gooseneck to the alu mast and want to use duralac to protect against corrossion

Can I apply duralac to the parts a couple of days before assembly? Or should it be put together immediately?

ITYWF that you need to assemble the parts before the Durlac hardens . The tech data should tell you how long that takes (more than a couple of days I guess)
Why do you want to coat the parts a couple of days before assembly? It's messy stuff and that sounds like a recipe for maximising the mess.

Why not use Tefgel. Far nicer product to use. A little goes a long way
Tef-Gel is probably best suited to closely mating surfaces. Duralac, perhaps, a better choice where surfaces do not fit closely together.

I never understand all these comments about how 'messy' Duralac is. My first 7 years of employment were in a bitumen products testing laboratory. After that, almost everything is clean. Just take care, don't do stupid things like picking your nose while using it and all will be well.

As said I would assemble immediately after applying duralac. If it hardens on mating surfaces or in holes or on rivets it is likely to make it difficult to fit rivets or get a close fit with plate. ol'will

I've used PE milk bottles in the past for fitting against the mast as recommended by a rigger years ago. I still used a bit of duralac with the rivets. Whilst PE may degrade in the sun, hidden behind a fitting it will last many years.
