I need to fit a proper horn to the boat having removed some crummy old trumpet thing that barely parped. I realise the Rolls Royce of these things is Kahlenberg but I really don't want to start installing air pumps etc and it would be a bit overkill for my requirements. So, are there any quality electric horns I should be looking out for? Something that won't corrode and is designed for the marine environment.

Those twin trumpet ones are fine .
Ours are some Italian make ( looks identical to the Vetus linked ^^^^ by Bart )

Pretty durable, the SSteel is unblemished and they sound pretty loud per boat L , compared with others after a firework display .
I think ( happy to be corrected? ) they are louder with a fwd airflow , so increase vol as the speed increases .

I have got a horn but tend to use the siren through p/a speaker on my vhf, which is also preprogrammed with all the different fog alerts.

You can also shout at people through the p/a, which is nice :encouragement:

avoid Ebay chinese knockoffs, had to throw away a pair of twin horns , they simply stopped working after about 6 months and to late to return to seller.

Waterproof speakers attached to the VHF ?

e.g.
IP55 rated

Standard Horizon (made by Yaesu)

(they have a bigger one, too)

The SH ones act as a microphone as well, so you can talk with the foredeck slaves, or listen for oncoming vessels.
It’s the Standard Horizon I’ve got, plugged into a SH GX220e vhf. You have to be careful with the sensitivity of the ‘listen’ feature otherwise terrible feedback occurs!

Thanks for the comments. I actually have a hailer attached to the vhf with pre-programmed horn sequences. However, it is fiddly to start looking at the vhf menu when all you might want to do is give a quick blast to someone. Also, I have a 'horn' button on my console so it would be quite nice to have something attached to it!
