DuoProp question

Can anyone tell me what's involved in removing the props from a 290DP leg? I should have my rebuilt props back next week, but I've never done Volvos. What tools do I need, and what are the tricks/right sequence?

TIA

You need the the tool which looks like a spark plug spanner with a long thin arm attached to it. Also you need the Volvo tool which is round with Ribbed insert to get the central collar that holds the second prop on …off.

Lift drive
Take spanner undo bolt in cone.
Push long thin bit on spanner through cone and undo cone
Put boat into gear
Remove first prop jiggle it a bit to get it off
Put boat into reverse (I think may have fwd and rev wrong way round)
Take round volvo ribbed thing and place on nut/collar put long thin thing from spanner through it and undo it
Jiggle next prop to come off
Take large phillips screwdriver and undo both screws holding in anode
Remove anode replce with new anode and new screws
Put new prop on make sure you have plenty of waterproof grease on the spline
Do the same as above in reverse

This is all from memory but it will become apparent as you get into the job.

Hope this helps

Ta, but I don't get the props back till next week. May borrow the thing for the week, though, if you have no objections...

Go to your freindly Volvo dealer. You buy a speacial cone tool - about £5 and then a castle spanner wich fits over the big nut between the inner and outer prop. This costs about £20. It makes life a hell of a lot simpler plus you can change the prop in the water if needs be. I used all sorts of things until I bought the proper tool and it makes prop changing a 10 minute job with no slipping wrenches and mangled knuckles.
