Hi,

Just bought a set of used duoprops and noticed the part numbers are different to my spare set. Spare set part numbers are four blade, 854790 and three blade 854780. Ones I've just got are stamped 852261 for the four blade and 852259 for the 3 blade.

All four have A7 preceding the part number. Visually comparing them they look the same size and shape.

Anybody got any ideas at to why the difference?

Cheers

Hi Alastair,

Thanks for the reply. Have seen your props and was thinking of putting in a bid. We spoke - via email - re your dinghy earlier on in the week, may have a bid on that too!

I'll try and get in touch with Volvo tomorrow to see what the story is. The guy I got the props from has given me some history. They came from a boat built around 96 or 97. I think they were too big for this boat because they were soon changed for some A6's. The props have been kicking around in his garage since then.

Cheers

I have got through 5 sets of duo props on my boat and currently carry 3 spare sets (6 props), the hub can be shorter on old props and I have mixed these with no problems. SD have returned two of my props in the past saying they are too far gone, I managed to find a place on Grimsby Fish Docks who repaired them for me and they looked good but they both failed within 100 NM so be careful of secondhand, ( the ones on e-bay do look as new).I find problems with the 4 blade prop as a blade frequently drops off with no other visable damage, the fact that there appears to be more 3 blades for sale than 4 blades indicates that other boats may suffer the same problems.I could do to stock up on 4 blade
A6 's if anyone knows of any going cheap, yes I know it can be a pain trying to change them 40 miles offshore but I'm a sucker for a bargain !
