Hi all,am looking @ replacing both sets soon & it appears that the powertech ones are coming in approx £150 cheaper than the V P originals, so questions
(1)people say they are stronger than the V P ones is this true,
(2)does the paint stay one any better!
(3)if stronger is there any increase in performance.
any info would be much appreciated,
what a corker last w/e eh,regards mm1.

Well, I've just gone back to VP duoprops, The powertech ones I bought only lasted 2 seasons. You can snap pieces off the blades with your fingers. It looks like galvanic corrosion, but all the anodes were eroding nicely suggesting they were doing their job. I don't really know why they went like that but thoght it might be inferior ally. Must be some reson why they are £150 cheaper:confused:

My four bladed front A6's had to be replaced (one cos of contact with the sea bottom whilst rotating, the other fell off).

The the three bladed ones are still going ok from 2003!

i am on my second year with a pair of a7's, they do feel thicker than volvo
i think they are slightly better paint and maybe durability and with them being that much cheaper i would go for another pair
havent noticed any performance difference
hope that helps a bit maybe

On the last boat I had A6's that had to be replaced due to galvanic corrosion. Replaced them with Powertech until I solved the problem. I lost nearly 2knots off the top end. Yes they are thicker - but less hydrodynamic, finish quality not quite as good. Paint stayed on about as long as the volvos - 10 minutes.
Never had any doubts about how long they would last. Basically I would say you get what you pay for, cheaper props will not be quite as good, if that is ok for you then they are fine.
