Like many others I was interested by the Duogen combined wind/water turbine generator at SBS. My main concerns was the assortment of metals in the submersible bits, and general concerns about the robustness of a relatively new piece of gear. Can any existing Duogen users give their experience? The alternative for water-powered generation is the Aqua4Gen - any experiences on this please?

When I was asking about this on a much earlier thread, I was advised by someone who had actually got one of these and liked it. Certainly going to give it a good study at the show as I am strapped for power and need to do something a bit extreme to solve the problem (alternative solution is the fit of 2 x normal wind generators- but extra noise). I like the look of this beast. It is an elegant solution to all our problems. I have nevered liked the towed ones before as I am sure that some beastie would decide that it would make a good meal (thats my luck)

I have a Duogen

I've had it for 2 seasons now and am extremely pleased with it. There have been a number of detail design changes over this time (which mine has been updated with) and the unit does "exactly what it says on the tin"!

The ability to quickly switch between wind and water mode is brilliant - sailing in water mode, anchor for lunch, switch to wind mode; switch back to water mode and sail off!

Pete Anderson (and the rest of the team) are great people to deal with - always ready to listen to ideas about mods to make the unit even better. If you look at their website (http://www.duogen.co.uk) you can see my boat - the Fisher 25.

Cheers,

Jerry
