Hi , more help needed by newbies with an approaching full waste tank I.e where and how do we empty / discharge contents ?

Google for local pump out stations.

Or depending on your set up there might be a diverter valve where you can head at least 3 miles out and dump it.

W.

Most go out to sea and discharge it there .Some marinas have a discharge guy who comes round and sucks it’s out via a filler cap on the deck .Theses look like fuel fillers but say “ waste tank “ as opposed to “ diesel “ .....( Don,t put diesel in at a fuel station btw )

The diverter valve ...generally one of two systems.....( A or B )
A- depending on the set up is either next to the bowl , so look under the sink .If it’s there you will see a through the hull fitting [ THF ] with a two way sea cock / valve .Change to position of the handle .The handle convention is they line up with the flow , so if it’s pointing towards the bit that goes to the hull outlet ....it’s set to sea , ie out .

The tank ,
Some have a pump which has a switch .....” tank “ “ holding tank “ “ black tank “ ....it s normally on your saloon panal.
There should be a gauge or light to show the level status ? ......once out the regulation distance ...press the “ tank “ button .
watch the gauge drop .2-3 mins it takes .
But first all every THF should have a isolation sea cock .
Find it and make sure it’s open before , pressing the button or flicking the “ tank “ switch .

B - There may be a diverter valve to throw on the tank itself .Find the tank .
Lift the access panel s in the saloon sole ....These are normally grey plastic Y shape ...turn it so the flow goes from the toilet to out .Some tanks are in the engine room as well .Toilet pipe is generally 38 mm and white btw .
Then ...via the switch operate the pump .

Pump will normally be near it’s THF .

Theses THF sea cocks need regular excercise. Because the internal parts are effectively submerged, the sea eventually corrode s .Them .
Its a big subject for another day , but I,ll warn you there’s quality and others and the price difference is huge .
Anyhow you should find them all , not just the “ tank “ discharge and turn them every trip .Exercise them 1/2 dozen open close etc .If they are ceased or stiff they need replacing .This necessities a lift out so “save them up “ for its annual service antifoul etc .

summary
Find the THF and or diverter valve .
Find the pump ...check it’s sea cock is open .
Find the switch for the pump,.

Thx ....I think it’s what he needs ?

Fortunately for me we flew into to Nice and Sunseeker kindly sent a guy for 3 days ....as well as boat handling , we did all this stuff + anchoring etc etc .
Before then never been on a proper mobo . ......

The 2nd day night back I forgot to turn the charger on ........wondered why the lights were dimming and toilet seemed to slow down when we got up .Happy days .

Hi , more help needed by newbies with an approaching full waste tank I.e where and how do we empty / discharge contents ?
Be useful to know what boat you have.

In my expereience there are three possibilities
1. Macerator dump using a pump as described by Porto above. You'll know if you have this because there will be a switch somewhere to operate the dump. This system is required if the black tank is fitted in the bilge.
2. Gravity dump - just open the tank dump seacock (2" diameter pipe approx) and contents flow out. Both my last two boats have had this. If you have an electric WC it should include a macerator so the tank contents are 'fluid' enough to run out... Black tank will be fitted above the waterline eg behind a wall panel in the head.
3. Deck pump out fitting. Use in a marina pump out station (often on the fuel berth) or a roving contractor. Applied to both of these black tank locations.

Portofini and Scala thanks for your help and valuable advice , the boat is a Beneteau Antares 30 btw which is being lifted out on Tuesday for annual anti foul and engine service so will get all sea cocoa checked and replaced as required , think I have located most of what was advised in the heads behind a panel and the gauge and black button which is by the toilet .

Tank is under the helm seat. You can get to it from the engine bay. It’s a tight crawl.
[editing as maybe the crawl is from the lazerette - brain fade - but I’m sure it’s hard against the hull starboard side]
There is a gauge in the heads.
Cant remember where the sea cocks are but I think they are in the cabinet in the heads.

really nice boat BTW. I have had one out in a F8 in a proper sea. Economical, sure footed. Great boat.
Really needs a sternthruster though. If yours hasn’t got one I know someone who can fit one for sensible money.

Hi thanks again for your help Elessar , will consider stern thruster but as we are 2,500 miles away from Southampton we may be logistically challenged ?
