invest in a set of crimping tools ,it will be worth it in the long run.
Crimping is really the way to go.
Be very cautious if you use combined solder/heat shrink eg

They seem a good idea but use very low tempreture solder and can fail if used in a high tempreture enviroment. Being out in the sun in hot countries can be enough .
