Not really because we all know how and why he got them. For what ever reasons this country awards decorations for all sorts of things, and to top it off the Queen has the right to give a whole variety of them to whom ever she chooses.

There is I think good grounds for revising the system to make it more equable. In far to many categories the awards are graded according to rank not always the value of their effort to the nation.

Several years ago, his dad (who used to compete with Uncle Dickie as to who could display more gongs) and eldest brother went on a tour of South America...

And I don't recall in which country the incident occured, but apparently,
at a reception, Philip was heard to remark to some military type that he was surprised at how many medals he had, considering his country had not been in any wars....to which the other quickly retorted that at least he had earned them in the service of his country and not just for having married a woman...

I always understood that before he married Phil the Greek served in the Royal Navy during WW2 as a junior officer.
