Dufour 41..coastal cruiser

Probably totally out of step with coastal cruising needs but a 14 foot beam depishh draught and deck sweeping headsail and high topsides .At abeathtaking sail away price,see this months YM Iwonder what segment of the cruising market it’s aimed at and age group.Interested to hear thoughts……unless it’s just another charter yacht

These days, it'd probably be classed as a first boat.

Seems to be another large inshore weekender, but it does have a built in barbecue. As you say, difficult to see a market unless they want to rent it out in the Med.

We have a D 36 Classic so went onboard the D37 at SIBS last week to see the latest thinking. The team showing off the boat were very proud of the barbecue in the stern. Not really something that appealed to me. Some nice touches but overall wouldn't swap boats. ( till the next thing breaks of course!!)

I liked the 37, particularly in comparison with the nearby 44 which looks like it was designed by an AI with a virus. Not in a position to buy either of them sadly.

Does it really have 900 sq m of sail? ie. well over 10 times as much as me? We have 30 sqm per ton, this seems to have 90!

Just looked at the spec for a Jeanneau 490. “Performance” version has 122 sqm.

Bet this Dufour doesn’t half go…

Yes, we met a few really large, newish yachts over the past few years which were at least the owners step up from dinghies or were their first boat. A big, newish southerly 42(?) comes to mind in the isles of Scilly.

Our 1st boat, a 1966 Australian 28', was a 6 berth boat and cost £5000 around 2015.

Still, if you've got £360k lying around doing nothing ......!

That’s about 25% more than a J Class. Don’t fancy bending those sails on at the start of the season!
