Due to cataract op no further work can be done till at least December. All the cushion covers are now washed and at home .Measurements taken to build a simple galley and find a porta potty that fits the available space. The companion way hatch or washboards have been fitted with a rubber gasket to keep rain water out.According to the previous owner the cockpit is self draining….I hope itis😳….projects planned include a cover over the hatch and cockpit to keep off the sun next year.Important additions will be four large cushions to relax on and new mooring lines as existing ones are way to big for the cleats. The previous owner is giving me a gizmo that attaches to the outboard so it can be flushed out .Nothing more exciting to relátelas you know boats even when berthed occupy the mind🙂

Hope the cataract op goes well. My brother had his done recently and now has ditched wearing glasses. Hope you sail through.

At least the op will delay the endless questions we all know will be coming once you get drifting in the Rias. 😃

Oh I am sure this is nothing unusual for you. You used to spend all day searching for a boat to buy, supplemented with lots of YouTube watching with glass in your hand. I feel sure that buying a boat is far too strenuous for you, so the delay will get you in the mood to think of tackling them in the distant future. You will need some gym work before you raise the sails. 🤣🤣🤣

That’s been mooted😂……once given the all clear I have a strone floor to lay but the Dufour is a lightweight and the wife needs training 😂

Planning your boat jobs 🤣😂....so naïve
Let me give you an example...from real life...my tv on the boat stopped responding to the remote control....so I changed the batteries...bought two new remotes...nothing. So I decided to buy a new tv rather than keep investing time and money in the hope that it can be repaired. Plus I always wanted to get a bigger screen...or better eyes. Turns out that 12v TVs are three times as expensive as regular TVs 🥺😳....and the biggest 12v TV is only 32 inches....disappointing but big enough compared to the 24 inch one in the boat. But they are like hen’s teeth....luckily I found an ‘approved used’ TV on Amazon for a reasonable price...happy as Larry....and it was delivered quickly 😃
Just remove the old one...what could be easier....everything is the answer. Took all the tools in my box and sacrificing my back and knee before it finally surrendered and I could remove it...phew...in a way I was impressed with the workmanship that could keep a TV connected to a boat good enough to survive a tsunami.
Then today I brought the new TV to the boat....and it fitted perfectly...and easily....great...I switch it on ...and it’s broken 😱...a huge spiderweb across the screen ☹️....only visible when switched on...leaky pixels according to the internet.
Now I have to return the TV to Amazon....there aren’t any more bargains on the internet. So, either fix the old one and reinstall it...or buy a new small one. I don’t know what to do🤷‍♂️🤔
That’s boats😡

Honestly?
Just buy an old 21 or 24inch iMac for £10, drill a hole in the flat base for a bolt n wingnut and run it from a 200w inverter.
They come with a remote and something called a DVD player in them.
And bung a tv dongle in the back usb slot. You’re good to go.
I had mine on the chart table for years as an inconspicuous relatively “office” computer and then turned it round to face the saloon for movie nights . Which was nice . Or undo the bolt n wingnut to go sailing with an uncluttered, salt liable, chart table, arghhh
Way better picture than tellies but these things have probably moved on a bit.
Sorry about your lost cabinetry efforts

As Wansey says, books are trying to tell you something as well!

I am not an electrician, so don't risk your life with the wire cutters, but I'm sure I read on these boards that most modern TVs run on 12v and have an adaptor in them to take the voltage down. This, apparently, can be removed to turn them into 12v TVs ready for your boat.

I did wonder about that….but I don’t like electric DIY on a boat if it is something I know nothing about

You don’t understand….tv decides what you watch…something good, something bad or something you’ve seen before. That’s the magic of tv😃

Something old something new
Something borrowed or er sommat blue ?
Your boat, your rules.
( Do you share the remote with the missus or are there two remotes, his n hers😎)

The only solution to that which doesn't end in bloodshed or divorce is separate TVs
👍
The modern family could be a bunch of iPads and earphones all sitting together on the sofa or arranged around the saloon table perhaps?
